BSSI has an immediate opening for a Business Unit Director (BUD) for our Automotive After Market. This position will report directly to the Vice President Sales - Microflex. The Business Unit Director is a field position and will be based out of their home office. The ideal candidate must live within a reasonable distance of a major metropolitan airport as this position requires approximately 70% travel.

The Business Unit Director is responsible for leading the business unit to achieve annual growth objectives by converting new end users to Microflex products and gaining support of distributor sales organizations to grow our market share, targeting retail, paint & auto body, general repair, and jobber markets.  The Director has P&L responsibility and is accountable for working with the Marketing and Sales teams to develop and implement a strategic plan for the business unit.  In this capacity, this position is responsible for analyzing industry trends relating to anticipating the needs of current and prospective end user customers, and developing and implementing the sales process that results in consistent conversion of new end users to Microflex.  The Director has two direct reports (Channel Development Managers).

 

Duties:

More specifically you will:

•·         Establish a business plan with each sales constituency to achieve their planned growth.  Coordinate all planning activities within the overall Microflex strategic plan to achieve growth plans by product and by market. 

•·         Lead the development and execution of a consistent sales process to achieve end user conversions.  Work closely with the marketing team to assure that training material and marketing messaging follows the sales process.

•·         Direct staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and manage the sales efforts to achieve the planned objectives.

•·         Develop and implement the sales compensation program designed to achieve planned results.

•·         Deliver sales presentations to key prospects with the sales team to assist in building relationships and closing sales.

•·         Build relationships with key distributor sales managers to gain support for end user conversions, and to obtain clear selling direction to lead with our products.

•·         Create the expense budgets for the sales efforts, and manage the expenditures of the budget to achieve planned growth within budget.

•·         Collaborate with the marketing teams to assure that competitive intelligence is up to date and used by the sales teams.

•·         Develop and document in CRM an appropriate sales pipeline that will ensure attainment of the Business Unit's sales objectives.

 

Qualifications:

In order to qualify you should possess:

Education:

•·         BA/BS in Business Management or related field

•·         MBA preferred

Experience:

•·         Minimum of 7 years sales management experience

•·         Strong business acumen with prior profit and loss responsibility

•·         Proven track record of consistent sales goal achievement

Skills:

•·         Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products with strong emphasis on Excel

•·         Strong written and verbal communication skills

•·         Strong sales management expertise

•·         Ability to act independently and decisively to make tough calls when needed

•·         Strong coaching and mentoring experience

•·         Familiarity with the automotive distribution network. Must also have the ability to immediately apply this knowledge to devise and implement the business strategy

•·         Aptitude to quickly utilize corporate technology, as well as Sales Force.com

Ability to travel domestically (national) up to 70% of the time, including overnight travel and occasional weekend travel and attendance at various trade shows.

Valid driver's license is required. No company car provided.  Selected candidate must have access to a vehicle in good working condition.
